Challenge
Kroměříž – a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its baroque Archbishop’s Palace and Gardens – draws significant visitor numbers. The city’s historic centre has limited parking capacity, and the municipality wanted to give residents and visitors real-time visibility into availability at Riegrovo náměstí as part of its broader smart city programme.
Solution
Parkinto’s AI camera system was integrated into the Kroměříž smart city platform to monitor occupancy at Riegrovo náměstí. Live free/occupied counts are published directly on the city’s smart city portal (smart.mesto-kromeriz.cz), alongside MHD bus tracking and traffic throughput data. The camera-only approach means no road works or ground sensors were required – installation was non-invasive and quick.
Results
Real-time parking data is publicly accessible 24/7 on the Kroměříž smart city dashboard, helping drivers make informed decisions before entering the city centre. The system is managed by the city’s IT department and is part of a portfolio of smart city services covering also the Velké náměstí car park.
